COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS AT DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have Matric Certificate.

Valid certificate in HIV Counselling & Testing as well as adherence counselling will be an added advantage.

Excellent counselling and interpersonal skills.

Must have excellent communication skills.

Non-judgmental, trustworthy, and empathetic personality.

Discrete and confidential.

Willingness to work irregular working hours, including weekends and a willingness to travel within the sub-district.

Willingness to work with a team in challenging environments.

Ability to communicate in English in addition to local language.

 

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Conduct structured household screening and profiling to identify health needs.

Promote HIV testing and screening for TB, STIs, NCDs, Cervical Cancer and mental health.

Encourage individuals in households to stop substance use (Cigarette, Alcohol and Drugs) especially women during pregnancy.

Promote healthy lifestyle including healthy eating and reduction in dietary salt intake among the general population and those with health conditions.

Promote weight loss especially if obese or overweight and physical activity (exercise). among the general population and those with health conditions.

Promote good oral hygiene.

Promote use of contraception and family planning.

Facilitate access to social grants, childcare, disability, old age and other social services (e.g. OVC, substance abuse, victims of violence and neglect)

Facilitate appropriate referral for health, rehabilitation and social support services as needed for individuals or households.

Provide adherence support for people on medication and support follow-up care, including delivery of chronic medication.

Facilitate community mobilization and create awareness on health diseases through awareness campaigns and mobilize around community needs.

DURATION OF CONTRACT: From start date to 31 March 2024

REMUNERATION: R4 448.06 per month
