Job Purpose: The purpose of the Shop Assistant role is to deliver excellent customer shopping experience through stock replenishment, merchandising, housekeeping and efficient processing of transactions at till points.

– Grade 12 or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Knowledge and skills:
• Excellent customer service skills
• Communication skills – fluent in English (any other language would be beneficial
• Tenacious
• High energy levels
• Highly motivated and target driven

• Previous retail experience is not a requirement, however it would be advantageous

As a Shop Assistant you will ne Responsibilities for the following:

1. Provide excellent customer service and give a great shopping experience to customers:
– Assist shoppers with finding the goods and products that they are looking for
– Assist customers with queries and/or complaints



2. Cashier duties
– Process payments, Lay Bys,  and customer refunds
– Any discrepancies and problems must be reported to the supervisor
– Till balancing

3. Merchandising
– Ensure that stock on the sales floor is correctly priced and displayed
– Ensure that products are always available at the sales floor
– Housekeeping
– Keeping up to date with promotions

4. Risk
– Ensure that products are tagged in line with the company policy
– Stock takes
– Always be on the lookout for shoplifters and fraudulent activities and report any suspicious behaviour to Management
